Finding the right path
Another two defeats in a row at the San Siro is not something that Inter fans are used to lately.
The defeat against Udinese was a tough one after Pazzini missed the penalty and the defeat against CSKA Moscow after Inter conceding a goal when Milito just hit the crossbar was another bitter defeat.
What more can Ranieri do? Luck is surely not on Inter's side and surely it must turn around soon.
Inter have to face reality this season and see third place as their major target. Moratti does not want to spend big as he is taking the UEFA Financial Fair Play rule very seriously.
The team is looking at younger players for the team, but to reach a high target with so many young talent, is a bit difficult.
In the Champions League it is a bit of a different story. Ok, Inter lost against the Russians, but they had already qualified top of the group.
Depending on what team Inter is paired with for the next round, reaching the final could be something that Inter can do.
Manchester City and United were both knocked out and Inter for now are lucky not to play Real Madrid, Barcelona, Milan or Napoli.
Not taking anything from the other teams, I am just saying in the Champions League Inter are a much better team this season for some reason.
Getting back to Serie A, some important players will soon be back with the team. Sneijder and Maicon should be ready to enter the frame in the next game or so.
If these players play as they should, Inter could soon find themselves in the top ten again. What Inter should be glad about is that from their position till eighth place, their are only about six points between them. So in reality, a top three position can be reached. Udinese and Napoli must slip up a bit so Inter can gain a bit. Inter have a game in hand with Genoa and they must do all they can to win this match.
This weekend, Inter will face a improving Fiorentina at the San Siro. This is another delicate match for the team and even though coach Claudio Ranieri is doing a fantastic job, if Inter are defeated, Moratti will surely start having his doubts on the coach. I will say it again as I did in other posts. If Ranieri is given the chance, he will do well, but at the moment he is driving a half sinking boat to shore.
Forza Inter!!
