A two-year contract for Gasperini
Finally Inter make it official and sign Gian Piero Gasperini on as coach for the next two years.
Many seem to be shocked at this move, but I see it as a safeguard for a potential project.
Many belief Inter had such a hard time to find a new coach because they thought the deal was only going to be for one-year to make room for Barcelona coach Guardiola.
We all know Moratti is a firm admirer of this coach, but that does not mean Inter are going to be the only team running after him, if they run after him next season.
Villas-Boas might be a complete flop with Chelsea and they might pounce on Guardiola if he is available. We must not forget Manchester United or Manchester City. Ferguson is not getting any younger and Mancini has to produce more from his rich Manchester City team. There is also Milan, they also have the prestige to lure such a coach.
A two-year contract for Gasperini injects confidence in his role as he has the chance to work.
Yes, you might say contracts mean nothing, but if Inter wanted him just as a journey man, they would of signed him for one-year only and not two.
I am in favor with Gasperini coming to Inter as when he had Milito and Motta with him at Genoa, they were a very good side that caused problems for many teams. Imagine what he can do with Inter if they keep the stars they have and add just a bit to improve the team.
Going back to Leonardo, I really feel that a person that Moratti hand picked really let everybody down. If you were really a professional in your work, you would not leave a team like Inter hanging after you had the full backing of the owner, even when he should'nt have on some occasions.
Who knows, Gasperini might shock everybody and end up winning the league. He just needs the proper backing from the players, directors and especially the president.
Most probably Gasperini was not the last option after all the coaches mentioned. The press inflated a lot of the stories, and Gasperini was probably on board a long time ago.
The Inter fans must not be intimidated by Juventus mentioning all the millions they are spending at the moment. We all know what happened to Inter when Moratti spent all that money.
If Inter want to follow the UEFA Financial Fair Play rules, young players must be added to the team, and a coach like Gasperini is the ideal person to get things going.
Good luck Gasperini!!!! we are all with you.
