Inter went down again this time to bottom dwellers Parma. While watching the game, I started to notice from the beginning Inter would not be winning this match. The team looks tired and they are a total opposite of the team we were used to seeing play last season.
Many are blaming Leonardo as they think he is not tactically ready to coach a team like Inter. As I said many times before if it was not for Leonardo, Inter would not have been fighting for the Scudetto until a week ago. It is true that in a matter of three days, their Scudetto dreams and the chance to progress in the Champions League were wiped away. But is it really Leonardo's fault?
Leonardo, the players and other journalists are also saying that it is all related to fatigue. Could it be that after winning 14 trophies in the last six years has caught up to them? Many of the players are over 30 and this truly is a sign that the team needs some new life injected into them.
Inter seem to be already very close to signing Manchester City's star striker, this is a great move as is very dangerous in front of goal. Everybody seems to be excited about Tevez, but the player is not very young either at 27 years.
Whatever happens this season, Inter do need to step into the transfer market to strengthen the team if they want to get back to winning silverware.
Now for Mourinho. On Sunday morning while I did my usual search of news on the Italian sites, I noticed a story from Italy regarding Mourinho enrolling his kids back in a school just 40km away from the Inter training ground. After his silence earlier this week in the press conference before the Barcelona-real Madrid match, speculation has hits it's peak that Mourinho could be making a sensational return to his former treble winning side.
All Inter fans and players would love this and they are all dreaming about this to happen. Everybody all knows that Mourinho has not had the greatest seasons with the Real Madrid management, and if they don't take care of him, he will just walk out.
As well earlier this week, Mourinho was quoted in an interview that Inter president Moratti is the best president a team and fans could ever have.
It is very strange that Mourinho would be sending his kids back to Milan if he is to stay with Real Madrid if this speculation is in fact true.
In the next couple of days it will surely be interesting as the news is shifting onn what is happening off the pitch than what is happening on the pitch as last season.
What will happen to Leonardo? Leonardo has stated he will leave if he does not stay as coach and will not accept a desk job. Moratti will surely not let him go so easy, as if Mourinho does come back, he will have no problem working with Leonardo by his side.
The big question now is if Leonardo will accept any other position with Inter. I believe he will stay as he has grown to love the team, and Moratti has always wanted him with the team. If Leonardo wants to coach again in the future, he would have the greatest opportunity to learn from the best if he does work with Mourinho.
Now that would be a great partnership. And finally we cannot forget the connections Leonardo has in Brazil to bring new young players as he did with his former club Milan.
As I was writing this article, Udinese defeated Napoli, so that means Inter are still in the running to finish the league in second place. After all they have been through this season, that would be a great surprise indeed.
Forza Inter
