What a week, it must have been the worst moment for Inter since Roberto Mancini was with the team. First a huge defeat to Milan and now the the defeat against Schalke in the Champions League.
What happened in these two games are a bit strange. I will make it a point that I am backing Leonardo 100% as it is not his fault. President Moratti was correct in backing his young coach, as in moments like this Leonardo speaks well and admits defeat without any excuses, or crying for new players like other people.
The expression on Leonardo's face showed that he was really disapointed and his voiceless interview was the evidence.
We all know Inter have a grave problem in it's defence and that problem started when Samuel was injured and as well when Lucio does not play the back end of Inter has no structure.
Schalke took advantage on Inter's defeat against Milan and they did the right thing. We must not forget Inter are coming off a trophy haul of last season.
Inter supporters are disappointed of the last two results, but they should never forget what Inter did and are still doing. All of a sudden Leonardo went from Inter's greatest comeback coach to a coach on his way out according to the Italian press.
Chivu to me let the team down. It is true his sending off in both matches were a bit harsh but he was sent off and it hurt the team. In a match against Milan or in the Champions League you need total concentration.
If it was not for Leonardo, Inter would not even be in contention for a Europa League spot for next season. His attitude is fantastic, and he will get the team together for this weekends Serie A match against Chievo this Saturday evening even though it won't be easy.
Inter always had tricky encounters against Chievo in the past couple of seasons and a victory is very important to get the team to bounce back.
A 4-0 win is not something totally out of this world for Inter against Schalke next Wednesday, it will be very hard but not impossible. Witgh Milito playing again along side Eto'o, Inter have no problem scoring goals, they just have to concentrate on closing the gaps in front of their goal.
Inter are not washed up and the Scudetto race is still on, as Milan are not so great that they are winning each game with ease, they were just lucky to come off a defeat with a win againsts Inter.
As well, many forget that Inter had approx 15 players on International duty. This is probably was a nightmare for Leonardo as instead of training his players, he had to watch them waste their energy on matches that have no use.
Forza Inter!!!
