Inter president Massimo Moratti is a very happy man. He finally signed the coach he probably always wanted since Mourinho has left the club for Real Madrid.
Who knows what the conversation was about when Mourinho gave Moratti his resignation. The first thing Moratti probably said to Mourinho "who are we going to get to replace you?"
Since Mourinho had a open and fantastic relationship with Moratti, most probably he was honest and sincere to him, and told him the truth. Leonardo's name was surely mentioned. As Mourinho always talked highly of him.

Leonardo gets Mourinho's blessing
Jose Mourinho is apparently very happy that Inter president Massimo Moratti has picked Leonardo as his new replacement.
Mourinho has never been on good terms with Benitez and the signing of Leonardo was praised by the Special One.

Leonardo is the new coach of Inter!!!
It is finally official, I have seen this move coming right after Mourinho left the club for Real Madrid.
I believe Moratti has made a good decision and not only for the short term. Some journalists are saying the deal will only last six months. But Leonardo will lead Inter to good things and if things go right he will be on the bench for a long while.

Benitez adventure with Inter is over... now for Leonardo
What a shame, Benitez spoke to soon after winning the FIFA Club World Cup. It cost him his job and he had the full respect of Inter president Massimo Moratti.
Inter's president has a flaw and a gift at the same time. Moratti sometimes picks a coach not because of a business or economic reason, but he decides with his heart.
Benitez was one of those decisions, he really believed in this coach, but his words after the match was something you cannot forget and in a way it was a direct attack to the president.

Inter are FIFA Club World Cup champions but Benitez throws a bomb
![]() |
| It could be the last time Benitez coached Inter |
What a match, Inter defeated Mazembe 3-0. Inter made history by winning five titles in one calendar season.
Now the focus has to be on the Serie A title. It was a good weekend for Inter as Juventus were held by Chievo and Milan lost to Roma.
But what about Benitez??? after the match, he was quick to point out to the Inter directors that if they don't keep their promise and buy four or five new players he will leave the club.

Moratti has backed Benitez again
Inter president Massimo Moratti has given his backing to under fire coach Rafael Benitez.
It is obvious it would have been suicide to fire him just before the FIFA Club World Cup.
If Bentiez does manage to win the World Club Cup, I really think he won't be changed, but this also depends on how the season continues in Serie A, as Inter are losing a lot of ground on rivals Milan.
For now it is only the Club World Cup that is priority as it is a trophy that the President is desperate for.
We now just have to wait and see what happens on Wednesday evening when Inter play in the semi-final.
Hopefully they will get through with a convincing result so that they can go into the final with a lot of confidence.

Spalletti spotted in Milan as Guardiola is out of the race
According to inter1908.it, Spalletti was spotted in Milan. If this is true, Benitez's time at Inter could already be over.
Why would Spalletti be in Milan? The puzzle is slowly coming together. Secret meetings with Inter officials are surely on the cards.
Another story out this morning is that Barcelona coach is out of the picture for now as he is on the verge of extending his contract with Barcelona.
So basically the candidates for the Inter hot seat are Leonardo, Spalletti and Capello.
Leonardo and Spalletti are more straight forward options, as Capello has a complicated contract to get out of with England.

What happened to last season's Inter?
Every time I am about to write something about the team, another disappointment arises.
A fantastic win against Parma, then a loss against Lazio and Werder Bremen leaves everybody wondering what is going on.
Yes injuries are taking its toll on the team, but I think the plan is to unleash the players at the Club World Cup.
This is fine, but Benitez for some reason put the league on the back burner and city rivals Milan are running away with it.Yes Lazio and Juventus are in contention, but the defending champions being ten points off the pace is a bit worrying.
